Dr. Edward Salm
A native of Los Angeles, Edward started computer programming at age 9, but followed a path as an opera singer at CSUN. In 1986, he joined the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles. He has sung in Episcopal and Russian Orthodox churches throughout Southern California, in major motion pictures, concert halls, stadiums, on stage and television, and toured clear around the world.
A long-time queer activist, Edward worked for the Los Angeles LGBT Center, was an original member of ACT UP/LA and March on Washington, published queer newspapers, and has served on the boards of many political action committees and pride festivals throughout Southern California.
In 2008, he joined Rebellion Rugby, playing around the globe, including as US Ambassador to Tackling Homophobia matches in Cuba and Argentina, spreading equality, diversity, and inclusiveness through sport.
He also holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Religion, runs an IT consulting firm (Lambda Enterprises), and is the IT Specialist at Tom of Finland Foundation, where he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019.
